Hi Chris,
I would be interested in deep imaging to firmly detect the host of
SN1997ap at 13:47:09.90 +02:27:37.2 J2000. To go significantly beyond
the current measurements/limits, the images would have to reach a
point-source magnitude of I=26.0 at 5-sigma. This requires about 2 hrs,
so is rather expensive. The exposure series would have to be dithered
so that the resulting sky is very flat; the lack of fringing in FORS2
would help immensely.
