Abstract:

This documentation provides information for the usage of the IDL functions magmax.pro and magt.pro. The function magmax calculates the apparent magnitude of a supernova at maximum light for a given redshift, cosmology and filter. The function magt also calculates the apparent magnitude of a supernova for given redshift, cosmology, filter and in addition to this also time and stretch. The disadvantage of magt is that you can only choose R and I band whereas magmax offers a variety of filters.
The function magt is a pure IDL program whereas magmax serves as interface to library routines written in C which perform the actual numerical calculations as well as the handling of the files for the different filters, spectra, etc.
