Hi Mamoru,
Here a LBL we haven't been able to formulate a search plan for Subaru this
fall. All of us would need a clearer picture of how deep we might expect
to reach in such a search, and then calculate the number of SN expected
from E/S0 host galaxies which will also have photometric redshifts. Do you
know more about the photo-z situation now? Can you estimate the restframe
B-band luminosity in E/S0 galaxies with 1.0 < z < 1.5 which will have
photometric redshifts in a single Subaru field? If that totals to more
than about 10^14 Lsun in B-band, then we might have a chance of success.
A significant and complicating factor is that the HST schedule may be
completely full. I learned that the STScI director has forced the COSMOS
treasury survey team to move from the fall to the spring because he wants
to use much of the time this fall for the Ultra-Deep Field (3:32:39.0
-27:47:29.1 J200). I give the HST UDF schedule as an appendix for
reference. Since we are not on the schedule, it is probably impossible to
get on the schedule now.
What are your thought?
Cheers,
Greg
