I've taken a look at the VLT spectrum of: C02-016 - aka VotezChirax
If you happen to believe the 3727 line id (I haven't seen the 2-d spectrum
so I don't know what to think), then it looks like it could be an early SN
of Type I (not abc yet) with a strong Fe III absorption near 4500 Ang.
There is not much more to say other than the photometry suggests that it
has peaked around 22.5 in I which is more than a magnitude fainter at this
z than a Ia. Thus I would lean towards an early Ib/c.
Cheers,
Peter
