Increasing the velocity of the supernova photosphere simply scales up the wavelength axis but does not change the intrinsic shape of the line. As the velocity increases the absorption minimum moves to the blue -- thus its position can be used to measure the photospheric velocity. The emission peak, on the other hand, always remains at the rest wavelength (unless more complicated physical effects are present).
