Reduction notes Keck March 1998 - Isobel Hook used script ered.cl for first look. biassec='[2080:2145,26:430]' trimsec='[25:2064,26:430]' This time used 'response' on the flat field rather than median smoothing. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Summary ----------------------------------------------------------------- 9857 ??? low signal-to noise 98149 z=0.459 (OIII, Hb) SN features at day +7 agree ?) 98142 z=0.75 No clear gallines. possibly OII. SN features match at day -5 98140 ??? low signal-to-noise Night 2: ----------------------------------------------------------------- 9884 0.394?? if emission line is Ha. Maybe weak SN features ? 98132 ???? extremely faint. Nothing to trace ! did extraction. Consistent with zero. 9832 0.76?? QSO (or type II?). Very unlikely to be a Ia. 988 ???? nearby gal has z=0.68. SN not inconsistent with z=0.7 9827 ???? SN not inconsistent with z=0.62 Night 3: ----------------------------------------------------------------- 98104 0.638 z from host (OII, OIII etc) 9851 ??? dont know. blue featureless shape 9898 ??? 98138 single line. OII at z=1 ? could be a QSO ? 9855 0.44 z from SN. Clear Ia features. No clear galaxy lines 98144 ??? emission line at 6991A. OII at z=0.876 ? No other clear lines 9878 0.644 z from host (Ca H & K). SN features match reasonably if subtract some elliptical gal template. 988 0.567 z from single line = OII. 2 Neighbors have same z SN features ? 98114 0.41 z from SN features. Matches day ~ +7 ----------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- 9857 run 43 44 ap1 = neighbor. cant see much in this at all. ap2 = target. cant see much in this at all either. files: 9857subc.asc, 9857subc.asc (sub method) ----------------------------------------------------------------- 98149 run 49, 50 extracted 3 objects ap1 ap2 = target. z=0.459 (OIII, Hb) SN features at day +7 agree ?) ap3 files: 98149cc_comb.fits (ered script) 98149subc.fits (sub method) two methods come out very similar. Slightly worse sky subtraction in the sub version (esp 5577). ----------------------------------------------------------------- 98142 run 054 extracted 3 objects ap1 ap2 ap3 = target: z=0.75. No gal clear lines. possibly OII. Which is the object ?? ap1 ap2 = target. Low signal to noise in both exposures. Will have another go at reducing tomorrow. 2nd go (also quick but using the correct flats) - cant get much out of run 060. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Night 2 ----------------------------------------------------------------- 9884 140, 141 object traced using nearby reference object ap1: strong emission line at 9149A. Possibly H-alpha at z=0.394. Cant see other lines. Possibly SN features at that z. Slit loss at blue end ? (Not at paralactic angle) Looks generally blue so cant be at high-z. Maybe a type II ?
