The data is on the machine ins3p6.ls.eso.org. The account is ccd and the password is lasilla. The data is in the directory /data/ccd. First, there is the rather crummy data taken with the 2" slit. The relevant files are: 2" flats - efii0003.mt to efii0011.mt bias - efii0012.mt to efii0020.mt 2" arc - efii0054.mt SN9811 - efii0051.mt to efii0052.mt LTT7379 - efii0055.mt to efii0056.mt The seeing is better tonight, so I am using the 1.5" slit. 1.5" flats - efii0068.mt to efii0076.mt 1.5" arc - efii0077.mt to efii0078.mt ------------------------------------------------------- SN9811 column 510 N.B. - used wrong flats for this object since transfer of correct ones died. Chris: I did a quick a quick reduction this afternoon. Probable SN z=0.25. Isobel: Agreed, z=0.254. Clear SN Ia features including Si. Matches day -5. > 9811c_comb.asc, 9811c_comb.fits ------------------------------------------------------- SN98109, I have just finished SN98109 with the 1.5" slit. It is faint, so I integrated for 90 minutes. The seeing was between 0.9 and 1.3" The relevant files are efii0088.mt, efii0090.mt and efi0093.mt. ap1 = ap2 = SN98109 (column 550) > 98102c_comb_ap2.asc ap3 = Chris: 98109 was very faint. It was not clear what type this SN was. Isobel : Looks like a Ia at z=0.5. If the line is OII then z=0.497 Chris again(Jul 01) I've had a look at the 2-d and 1-d spectra and it is ulikely that the feature we see is OII. It is probably a reisdual from the bright OI sky line at 5577 Angstroms. fits file: 98102c_comb.fits IRAF commands: calibrate e088w,e090w,e093w e088c,e090c,e093c sens=e135sens exptime=1800. ------------------------------------------------------- 98122 60 minutes 98122. I've just completed SN98122. The relevant files are efii0101.mt and efii0103.mt. The SN is near column 550. ap1 = faint gal ap2 = SN (near column 550) Chris: 98122 is either a type Ia at z=0.4 or possibly a type II at z=0.18. Isobel: Ia at z=0.355. OII, Hb emission lines from host. Clear Ia features including Si. ap3 = ap4 = bright gal IRAF commands: calibrate e101w,e103w e101c,e103c exptime=1800.0 ------------------------------------------------------- 9869 I've just exposed SN9869 for one hour. The relevant files are efii0107.mt and efii0109.mt. ap1 = bright gal ap2 = faint gal ap3 = SN (x=550) Chris: I don't know about the SN though. Isobel: neither do I. Doesn't match Ia at z=0.507 ap4 = galaxy (x=580) Chris: The galaxy near the SN candidate has a redshift of z=1.52. Isobel: Was that a typo from Chris ? I think the gal has z=0.507 (Ca H & K) spike at 5317A is a cosmic ray. ------------------------------------------------------- 9819 Chris: I've just finished SN9819. The relevant files are efii0114.mt and efii0116.mt. The Sn is at 550 and the nearby galaxy is at 565. The redshift of the nearby galaxy is 0.39. ap1 ap2 ap3 ap4 = target. Clear SN features ap5 = nearby Gal, z=0.393 OIII, Ca H&K etc. ------------------------------------------------------- SN9834 files efii0122 and efi0125. The SN is at 550 and is very near to its host which is at x=557. ap1 = ap2 = ap3 = target z=0.399 clear SN features including Si > 9834c_comb_sn_ap3.asc ap4 = host, z=0.399 Ca H&K, Mgb etc. Bad sky subtraction at 5577A. > 9834c_comb_host_ap4.asc ap5 = bright star fits file: 9834c_comb.fits ------------------------------------------------------- SN98114 files efii0129 and efii0132. The second of these was taken as twilight started. The SN is very faint in these spectra. It is at x=550. ap1 = galaxy (not host) ap2 = ? ap3 = SN - just looks like noise. Sky subtraction problem around 5577A ------------------------------------------------------------ standard I just did the standard LTT7379 with the 1" slit - file efii0135.mt. exposure time ? ------------------------------------------------------ Summary: 9811 z=0.254 z from gal lines (OIII, Hb). Pre-max SNIa features agree well. 98109 z=0.497 SN features, OII? 98122 z=0.355 SN features, OIII, Hb 9869 ??? maybe SN features but doesn't match z of nearby gal (z=0.507) 9819 z=0.43 z from definite SN features. Nearby gal has z=0.393 9834 z=0.399 z from galaxy. SN Ia features agree. Si feature visible. 98114 ??? looks like noise! - maybe SN features at z=0.44 ??? ------------------------------------------------------
