INT REQUESTED DEEPSEARCH OBSERVATIONS -- 1997 DECEMBER 4 Version 2.0 There are two things we need: zeropoints and final references. Zeropoints, of course, require a photometric night. Final references don't require a photometric night, but do require good seeing (<1.1"). If the seeing is good, the final references are more important. If the seeing is 1.1" or worse, then only zeropoints make sense. ZEROPOINTS Intersperse zeropoint observations with observations of Landolt standard fields. Let me know if you want me to send you some coordinates of such fields. These are some of the SNe for which we still want zeropoint information. 300-400s exposures of the fields should be sufficient; we want to get good signal to noise for 19-21 mag stars. Fields are sorted in RA order. Band indicates which band we need data in. The notation "I, (R)" means that we still need R-band data, but may have good enough data in the R-band, and that I-band is more important. If both I and R are in parentheses, then this is a lower priority field which we want zeropoint information only for confirmation. Consequently, final references are not useful unless the seeing is good (ideally better than 1", but if they are deep enough we can use them at 1.1"). Images must be deep, such as 4x1000s, or 6x600s. We need final references for both I and R. Obviously, there is more here than there will be time to do. A priority is listed to the right. Higher priority means more important. Jog the telescope slightly (by 10-20") between observations, so that if by chance there is a bad spot on the frame coincident with the host galaxy, it doesn't zap us in every frame.
