Better Reductions

12 observed with the 300V grism

7 type Ia's

3 are SN, but the types are not clear

2 FBTs

Bruch S01-005 epoch 1, epoch 2 and epoch 3.

The data has been reduced to optimimise S/N.

Old Reductions

2001 Spring SN - VLT Spectra

The data in the PostScript files have been smoothed. The data in the FITS files are unsmoothed.

22/04/2001

Conditions: Thin cirrus to begin with, then clear, seeing ~0.6-3.0"

Warning: Data have been flux calibrated, but the vertical scale is wrong.

S01-054 junk15 - 3x1200=3600 seconds. A beautiful type Ia at z~0.58.

FITS and Encapsulated PostScript files

S01-028 Chopin - 3x1800=5400 seconds. Unknown.

FITS and Encapsulated PostScript files

S01-065 Joe Strauss -3x600=1800 seconds An (early?) type Ia at z~0.34. Co-ordinates may have been out by 0.4"

FITS and Encapsulated PostScript files

Seeing has deteriorated. It is now 1.2" and fluctuating.

S01-073 Meuse/Shostakovich - 2x1800s + 570s.

FITS and Encapsulated PostScript files -Not much to see in this spectrum

Aborted because the wind is too strong. We cannot point to the North.

Telescope closed at UT05:25 Too windy and too humid.

The forecast for tomorrow is for the poor conditions to continue.

21/04/2001

Conditions: Thin cirrus, then clear, seeing~0.6-2.1".

Warning: Data have been flux calibrated, but the vertical scale is wrong.

S01-017 Lalo - 3x1200=3600 seconds. Possible HK break at z=0.48. Seems to be mostly galaxy. A faint SN?

FITS and Encapsulated PostScript files

Cirrus is now thick

S01-031 JS Bach - 3x1800=5400 seconds. Lots of broad bumps in this one. Type Ia at z=0.8??

FITS and Encapsulated PostScript files

It is now clear, but the wind from the North is increasing.

S01-037 Gershwin - 3x1200=3600 seconds. Flat spectrum. BLac?

FITS and Encapsulated PostScript files

S01-004 Vilaine/Sibelius - 3x1200=3600 seconds. Most likely a type Ia at z~0.55.

FITS and Encapsulated Postscript files

S01-036 Massenet - 2x1200=2400 seconds. Most likely a type Ia at z~0.5

FITS and Encapsulated Postscript files.

S01-007 Bruch - 2x1200=2400 seconds. Most likely a type Ia at z~0.55.

FITS and Encapsulated Postscript files

Seeing has degraded to 1.3" and is getting worse.

S01-005 Bizet - 2x1200=2400 seconds. Difficult to say with this seeing and the heavy blending with a nearby galaxy.. Possibly a SN.

FITS and Encapsulated Postscript files

S01-033 Holst - 1x1200 seconds - A type Ia at z~0.35. But the seeing was very poor.

FITS and Encapsulated Postscript files

Seeing is now 2.1"

S01-035 Mussorgsky - 2x600s. Just continuum - probably a BLac.
