These are notes on the SNe in the B, C, E, and F runs, created by Andy Howell, to look at the issue of non-Ia contamination, and to analyze the mix of SN types discovered to address referee comments for Pain et al. 2001. The first category of SNe below are the SNe that are listed on the spectra web page (http://panisse.lbl.gov/collab/data/spec/) but are not in Pain et al. 2001. Beside each I have listed my guess as to the type of the SN. There are 24 such SNe. After that are the SNe in the paper, grouped into 4 categories: 1) The SNe that I think we can say are Ia's with reasonable certainty (24) 2) The SNe that are probably Ia's but I can't be completely sure about because I can't see some defining signature, like Si. (3) 3) The SNe that I think could go either way -- I think they are as likely to be Type Ib/c SNe as they are to be SNe Ia. (6) 4) The SNe which I cannot say anything about. Either I cannot find the spectrum or the spectrum doesn't tell us anything. (5) After that, I have my notes on each individual SN. SNe Pain et al. do not list as Ia: SCP IAU Andy's guess at type 9571 ? 95115 II/QSO 9591 1995av II/AGN 9528 1995au Ia or Ic 9528 1995au Ia or Ic 9611 1996cj II 97105 QSO 97109 1997ad ? 9776 1997ah ? 97126 1997an ? 97106 1997ao ? 97129 1997aq Ia? 9782 1997ar II? 97201 1997ek Ia? 97203 1997em Ia 97243 1997en ? 97234 1997eo ? 97236 1997es Ia? 97192 1997ev ? 97193 1997ew ? 97218 Ia? 97223 QSO 97233 QSO 97231 ? The best comparison to a Ia is 95116.94d.max.ps, after subtracting galaxy. No evidence for Si, and the ~3500 A Ca feature is not there. 1995ax 95126 0.615 I y Nov 26 0 Red. No evidence for Si. Easily might be a Ib/c. See comparison to 99dn, Ib at +10 d: 95126.99dn.p10.ps (median smoothed by 3 pixels). Then again, if you subtract a lot of E, it can look like a Ia: 95126.94d.max.ps. Photometry data point at +40d is too low -- lower than ref. 1995aw 9568 0.40 I y Dec 5 -10 Surely a Ia. Fits 94d at max. I see Si.
