VLT spectroscopy paper

    Dear SCP Exec.,
      I have revised the VLT spectroscopy paper in light of the referees
    comments and I have made this version of the paper available on my web
    page.

      There have been some substantial changes to the previous version,
    although none of the changes are critical. Hence, I think that this
    paper can be sent to the rest of collaboration for review. Changes
    are in bold type.

      Also available is my reply to the referee. Overall, the
    referee did a good job. The paper is now clearer.
