    Sorry if this repeats something that Alex has already pointed out,
    but I couldn't find anything along the following lines in the
    earlier e-mails.

    Rob's fit of SN1997ai differs markedly from the fit in P99. The reason
    is that it has no reference images. According the the P99 fit, which
    let the baseline float, there is light in the ref. Since Rob did not
    let the baseline float, the light in the ref is suppressed and the
    stretch is forced to a much smaller value (0.79 rather than 1.04). So,
    I contend that this is a bad fit.

    It's hard to believe that in the course of 6 yrs we never got a
    reference for this guy. With a ref, this one would give a very good
    risetime measurement.

    Note that this is NOT 97aj that I'm talking about.
