Rob,
just to make sure you understand what I think is problematic with
the current draft: this whole paper is trying to do a betterjpb
on SN colors than we've done in the past. You have gone further
than anyone before in being careful and pointing out all the potential
pitfalls. It would be a shame if this is clouded by too drastic statements
on things we cannot safely quantify. Thus, I suggest that instead
of talking about "4 clearly reddened SNe" we talk about "likely
reddened", and, we use the argument (when true!) that it is
a conservative approach to treat them as reddened. Same thing
for the "extreme outliers" in the Jha sample. The only thing I
am after is a more cautious description of the analysis. I think
is an attitude that will also help in having a smooth refereeing
process.
