    I don't understand either. My experiments have taken a long time and
    resulted in huge files. Rob sent me 16k *.png files, which combined with
    the snmin_illustrator_*.ps files result in typically 144k per final panel
    (= 1 SN) in the figure. But this is peripheral: I don't want to waste more
    time on image format, but if the concensus is for zoomed figures I'll just
    do it by trickery. I'll drag my feet on that one, tho, and certainly put
    it off for awhile, maybe until after submission. The SCP paper I'm
    supposed to be reviewing has more priority right now.

    More seriously for now, Rob hasn't so far been able to imbed the figures
    in the mss with psfig; since I can do it with no problem it's a problem.
    Will try sending him an AI 10 version. Since I don't have it on my
    computer I have to piggyback while another guy is at lunch or something!
