Since Saul has asked me to make this available, here is (most of) the
email chain I had with Nick Suntzeff and Mike Bessell about the lambda*R
vs. R question in Bessell 1990. Unfortunately I seem to have lost one of
the emails in the chain, and it is probably the most important one.
In any case, the chain is attached.

I should also note that correcting the UBVRI filters as I have suggested
reduces the dispersion of SNe Ia around the low redshift Hubble line.
