Collisions with a Plummer Model

Note Above : you are looking down at the gas of the
galaxy as it collides with the Plummer Potential. The simulation shows the
formation of a bar and multiple ring structures after it collides with the
perturber.

We consider the collision of a disk galaxy with a Truncated Isothermal
Sphere.
- the potential of the Plummer Model is given by:
- the impact parameter, b = 5 kpc
- initial distance from the center of the perturber = 100 kpc
- velocity of disk galaxy towards the perturber = 200 km/s
- mass of the perturber is approximately 1/4 the mass of the disk
